Nearly three decades of research have resulted in the development of several empirically-supported cognitive-behavioral treatments including variations of exposure and cognitive restructuring techniques for adults presented in both group and individual formats. In addition, a growing body of literature has demonstrated the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral, psychosocial, and family interventions for children and adolescents with social anxiety disorder.
