Resu lts show ed that the corrosion rate measured by electrochem ical techniques w as consistent w ith that by m ass loss, w hich decreased w ith the increasin of exposure tmi e, w hen the mi mersion tmi e w as less than 2 months. Th is ind icated that althou h the corrosion products formed on the surface of m ild steel for shortterm mi mersion, preventin oxy en diffusion and decreasin corrosion rate, it did not participate in the electrochem ical reaction durin the electrochem ical measure ments.
