The Luhe Teaching Hospital of the Capital Medical University, Beijing 101149, China ) [ABSTRACT] Objective: To explore the way and significance of carrying out pharmaceutical care in community. Methods: Pharmacists worked in community for making lectures on health education in fields of common diseases, chronic diseases and medication knowledge. Pharmacists also followed up the special patients periodically to provide community pharmaceutical care. Results: With learning multidisciplinary knowledge and the communication skills and practicing pharmaceutical care in community, pharmacists provided health education and medication consultant, also directed patients on adjusting the dietary structure, acquainting the mechanism of drug action and disease characteristics, and helped patients to overcome disease. Conclusion: Pharmacists can promote clinical rational use of drugs and improve public health and the quality of life of the public by developing pharmaceutical care in community. [KEY WORDS]
