Abstract: T his p aper provided an overv iew on the m ethodolog ies for zeo lite synthesis from fly ash ( FA )
and a detailed descript ion of convent iona l alka line conversion processes w ith sp ec ial em phasis on the
expermi en tal condition s to obtain different zeo lite types. Z eo litic products cou ld be obta ined from FA by
direct conversion and two-step conversion. A rev iew of potential application s of different zeo litic produ cts
for w aste w ater w as also g iven. T he exam ination o f the data presented by different authors revea ls th at one
of the m a in potential app lication of th is m aterial is the uptake o f heavy m etal ions from po lluted w aste
w aters. T he adsorption cap ac ity w as d ifferen t accord ing to zeo lites type. A new d irection w ith zeo lite
synthesized from FA is g ived.
