Its necessary to evaluate energy efficiency and environmental impact of selected energy system. In this paper, the generate processes, basic concepts, methods and steps of emergy theory and emergy analysiswere briefly introduced for the purpose of extending the application range of the energy evaluation method. Futhermore, an emergy evaluation index,which could reflect the particular features of community energy planning system, had been elaborated on the basis of the fundamental principle of emergy analysis, and the ecological and economic benefits of the energy utilization in community energy planning were all considered on same level of importance. Finally, the solar power of Texas was analyzed and the process of emergy analysis and assessment of energy resource were presented.
