Austen. J is the famous woman novelist of British in the 19th century. Her masterpiece Pride and Prejudice endures hundreds of years and has far-reaching influence on later generations, the art of irony is a highlight in her novels. Through analysis of irony in Pride and Prejudice, the thesis explores the methods of characterization of figures in Austen’s novels. Domestic and foreign research and development trend（With Literature Review） In recent years, many domestic and foreign scholars devoted to Austins fiction studies, in which ironical art is generally talked.
