Relying on the broad view, he had been opened up the range of Lu Xun study constantly, and because of his profound classical literary attainments, he could surmount regulation of situation and approach aesthetics explanation. Under influence of Lu Xun, Wen Yiduo and Zhu Ziqing etc, he formed scientific literature history consciousness and methodology consciousness self-consciously of modern times. Then, he used them to instruct his study of Lu Xun, and it gave all student large inspiration. His achievement and influence was so prominent that it go beyond category of Lu Xun study . Wang Yao emulated Lu Xun not only on his select of abandoning policy and tuning to school road but also on his select of subject , method , view of study, so he get in touch with Lu Xun spiritually.
