Thirdly, my genuine thanks must be given to my mum and my roommates, who motivated me a lot and provided me with great consolation and support. i Abstract Memetics is a new science which studies the replication, spreading and evolution of memes. The term “meme” was coined by Dawkins in his book “The Selfish Gene” to explain the phenomenon of cultural evolution. Dawkins stated meme as a “unit of cultural transmission”. Memetics has become an interdisciplinary field that is applied in biology, psychology, sociology and linguistics. In the year 2001, professor He Ziran introduced this theory into China, and up to now, memetics is regarded as one of the most advanced theories in applied linguistics in China. The basic feature of meme replication is through imitation, which is the core feature of recitation, as recitation requires a lot of imitation. Besides, according to Krashen?s theory of language acquisition, comprehensible input is a necessary condition for second language acquisition. Input language which contains items that are slightly beyond learner?s present linguistic competence. Thus, recitation can be regarded as a kind of comprehensible input, and recitation is also a good way for imitation.
