[Abstract] 0bjective Toevaluatetherelationshipbetweenenhancementofcarotidatheroscleroticplaquesandtheacuteee—
rebrovasculardisease(ACD)byc0ntrast_enhancedultrasonographywithSonoVue．Methods Forty-eightpatientswithca—
rotidatheroscleroticplaqueswere examinedwith contrast-enhancedultras0nography．0fthesepatiens，23 sufferedfrom
ACD。25patientshadnoacutecerebrovasculardisease．Thepost-enhancementpeakintensityintheplaque(Post-PI)，the
ratioofpost—enhancementpeakintensitytopre-enhancementintensityintheplaque(Post—PI／Pre-I)，theratioofpost—an—
hancementpeakintensitytopost-enhancementpeakintensityinthecarotidcavity (Post-PI／Post—PIC)weremeasuredand
calculatedfrom thetime-intensitycurve．Receiver-operatingcharacteristiccurveswereconstructedtoevaluatetheaccuracyof
enhancementofatheroseleroticplaques in predicting acute cerebrovascular disease． Results Contrastu1tras0nography
showedenhancementofthecarotidplaquein21of23patientswithACD ，whilethecarotidplaqueswereenhancedonlyin15
