The content is a reading passage named “Disabled?not me!”Which is about Disabilities.It is Narrative structure .By studying this unit , we should help students to develop friends with the disabilities and to get well along with disabled person.As we all know, reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning. The input has great effect on output, such as speaking and writing. Therefore, this lesson has a important position of this unit. If the students can understand it well, it will be easier for them to learn the rest of this unit.
Analyses of the Students
1. High school students have some understanding of disabled people in daily life, also have certain ability in listening, speaking, reading and writing,but reading is still a difficult part for them.
2. Students have stong interest in multimedia teaching.
Teaching Aims
According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, the teaching aims are the followings:
1.Knowledge objectives
(1) The students can master the usage of the key words and phrases,such as:disability, ability, fair,get around to,get used to,and so on.
(2) The students can hold the Direct and Indirect Objects in the proper situation.
(3) The students deduce their function and use-ness from in the context.
2.Ability objectives
(1) To develop the students’ abilities of reading and writing.
(2) To guide students to set up effective reading strategies.
(3) To improve the student’s reading skills, especially their skimming and scanning skill.
3.Emotion or moral objectives
(1) To train the students’ abilities of studying by cooperating .
