beat/hit /strike 1.beat 指反复地打，尤其指用木棍或其它较硬的东西打。如： He beat the boy with a stick. She was beating the dust out of the carpet.她在拍打毯子上的灰尘。 His policy was to beat each enemy in turn.他的政策是依次打败每个敌人。 请注意beat的其他用法： (1) beat 还可表示心脏跳动，鸟翼拍动。例如： His heart beat so that he could hardly breathe.他心跳如此厉害，以至于他几乎不能呼吸。 Her heart was beating furiously. The bird beat its wings against the bars of the cage. 鸟用翅膀扑打着鸟笼的栏杆。 The bird beat its wings rapidly as it flew on.鸟一边飞行一边快速地拍打它的翅膀。 (2) “打鼓”、“打拍子”等均强调动作的连续和反复，因此可分译为：beat a drum, beat time. With his baton the conductor was beating time.这个指挥用指挥棒打拍子。 He beat time with
