Corporate Culture Part one: Introduction The concept and the comprehension of the corporate culture Corporate culture is the total sum of the values, customs, traditions and meanings that make a company unique. Corporate culture is often called the character of an organization since it embodies the vision of the company’s founders. Corporate culture is the Glue (胶水), that holds an organization together. Corporate culture incorporates(吸收,使合并) an organization’s values, its norms of the behavior, its policies and its procedures. Other factors help to shape a corporation’s culture,the most essential one is the corporation itself. The industry that the corporation is part of will help shape its culture values. eg: high-tech computer software firm (a relatively young industry) vs investment bank (a mature industry) service industry vs manufacturing or mining company Part two: Corporate-culture components The system of rewards (回报制度) appreciated and rewarded type of employee behavior risk takers vs loyalty and long-term service Hiring decisions (雇佣政策) The type of individual a company hires says much about its culture.
