Teaching Plan for Module1, Unit 2 Heroes, Superhero ◆Teaching Aims: To develop the students’reading strategies: 1. Try to get the general idea when reading the first time. 2. Read with a task while reading. 3. Work out the meaning of new words through the text. To train the students’ reading skills. To practice the student’s speaking skills. ◆Teaching Emphasis: To develop the students’ reading strategies. ◆Teaching Difficulties: Get the students to voice their opinion. ◆Teaching Aid: Multi-media set. ◆Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warming up Talk about the heroes we have learned in this unit. Introduce anther hero after watching a short movie. Get some information from the two pictures. Look at the two pictures and answer the questions. 1 What was his most famous film character? 2 What terrible thing happened to him in real life? 3 What did he do afterwards? Step 2 Fast reading Learn reading strategies: Try to get the general idea when reading the first time. Ask the students’ to read the text quickly, and match the topics with the parts of the article. a) the riding accident b) his marriage c) his feelings after the accident d) his death e) his parents f) his belief g) how he get involved with charity work h) his work Step 3 Careful-Reading Learn reading strategies: Read with a task while reading. Present reading task: Task I: Read Paragraph 1-3, find the details in the text to answer the questions: 1 What was his most famous film character? 2 What terrible thing happened to him in real life? 3 What did he do afterwards? Task II: Read Paragraph 4-9, choose ‘True’ or ‘False’, using the details in the text to support the idea. True or False 1 After the accident, with his wife’s help, Christopher Reeve pulled through. 2 Christopher Reeve got involved with charity work because he wanted to improve the quality
