Application ofmorphologicalmedian wavelet algorithm in
monitoring data compression

A stract: W ith the developmentof equipment condition monitoring, especially wireless sensor networks, there are
a number of measuring points and huge amount of data need to be transm itted, which can be solved by the
compression algorithms. Traditionalwavelet compression algorithms are linear transform and spend long computing
tmi e. They can not be used to compress data effectively, when there are high realtmi e requirement and nonlinear
characteristics. ThemorphologicalHaarwavelet is smi ple and nonlinear, but it just takes the numericalmaxmi um
andm inmi um values, which lmi its the accuracy of the data recovery. The morphologicalmedian wavelet is used to
achieve the selfadaptation of the updating operator based on the localmorphological feature of the signa.l In this
paper the morphologicalmedian wavelet is applied to compress the monitoring data, and the compression results
are better than themorphologicalHaarwavelet.
