The conditions of intercalation was obtained, pH 6, 140 3 0165 2 . The sample thus obtained was characterized by XRD, FT IR, DSC- TG, ICP and EA. The results show that the original interlayer carbonate ionsof the hydrotalcite can be replaced by the organic anions under controlled conditions. The interlayer space of the pillaredhydrotalcite ( DBTALDH s) is expanded to 198 nm. The decomposing temperature ofDBTALDH s increased to 387 from 297
