Research of an Evaluation System forUrban Traffic Safety

[Abstract] W ith the deve lopm ent o f urban tra ff ic, traffic safety is getting m ore and m ore attent ion.
It is very mi portant to estab lish an evaluat ion system for traffic safety. A ccord ing to current situ ation of
traffic safety, m any factors are taken in to account, su ch as road, vehicle, driver, env ironm ent, traffic
m anagem ent and so on, wh ich effect one another and together have a funct ion on traffic safety. A fter
comp arative analysis of eva lu ation m ethods for urb an traffic safety, both hom e and abroad, a su itab le e
valuat ion m ode l is con stru cted through com binat ion o f known data and m ode ls. The m odel is b ased on
fuzzy m athem at ics and analyt ic hierarchy process. In the m odel, the m em bersh ip function of evalu ation
indexes is obtained through fuzzy evalu ation m ode compu ting. A nd w e ight coeffic ients am ong factors are
got through analytic h ierarchy process. Con sequent ly, an integrated evaluat ion valu e for urb an traffic
safety is acqu ired.
