Abstract In teg ra ting structural smi ilarity and g loba l quality m easurem ent index, a new non-reference fu sion qua lity
assessm ent me thod for m ultispectral remo te sensing mi ager ies is proposed. F irst, the spectra l qua lity is obta ined from loca l
spectra l quality based on the w e ighting strategy o f m ean var iable. Then, the spa tia l qua lity is ach ieved from local spa tia l
qua lity based on the w e ighting strategy of standard dev iation. F ina lly, a comb ined qua lity is ca lculated by linear addition.
V a lida ting exper mi ent is ca rr ied ou t on e ight common fu sion m e thods u sing CBER S-02 m ultispec tral and Cartosat- 1
panchroma tic mi ages. The result show s the new m ethod is consistent w ith the judgm en ts based on hum an v isual system,
w h ich indicates its effic iency.
