It wa s sugge st e d that the e ssential metho dolo gical p rinciple s of EBM should b e applie d in clinical trial s of TCM , including randomization , control and blindne ss . The sample size e stimation , optimal p aramet er selection for outcome a sse ssment , compliance and int entiontotre at analy si s are all imp ort ant a sp ect s of randomized controlled trial s . To bring the b enefit s of EBM into clinical trial s will imp rove the quality of r e se arch in TCM and also p romot e int ernational coop eration and communications .
