The compo site index system for m ea su ring u rban ization isworked ou t. W ith the help of the h ierarchy analysis m ethod, the weigh ting of all indexe s are determ ined and the key inde xe s are sifted ou t. The comp rehen sive indexe s for the u rban ization of X i ′an are figu red ou t according to rele van t statistic data. The aggregate and single levels of the u rban ization of X i ′an are analyzed.
