Zhenj iang P lanning and D esig ning nstitute) A bstrac t: N ano- sized polyferric sulfate ( PFS), a new k ind of inorganic coagulant, w as prepared through the hydro therm alm ethodw ith ferrous sulfate as the raw m aterial. The prepared nano- sized PFSw as characterized by FT- IR, XRD, SEM andTEM etc. . The coagu lation m echan ism and molecu lar conform ation of PFS were discussed and the influencing fac tors of preparation of PFS was investigated in the paper. In order to test the coagulating perform ances of nano- sized PFS, trad itional coagu lants i. e. ord inary PFS, polyacrylam ide (PAM ) and polyalum in ium chloride ( PAC) were selected to do the comparison tests on the water sam ple of the Changjiang R iver. Expermi ental results show ed that under each optmi um cond i tion of the four coagu lants, the rem oval rates of CODCr and turb idity of nano- sized PFS w ere 81. 5% and 90. 7% respec tively.
