Institute of Processing Technology , Dongfeng Motor Company Limited, Shiyan 442001, H ubei, China) Abstract:T he microstructure and microhardness of 30MnV steel isothermal transformed at 400~ 600 after aus tenitzing w ere investigated. Threedimensional morphology of ferrite w as observed by serial sectioning and com puteraided reconstruction techniques. T he result s show e t hat t he amount of acicular ferrite was decreased and bainite increased w ith the heat treatment temperature decreasing . T he increase of cooling rat e cont ributes both to the grain refinement and increase in acicular ferrite. Threedimensional morphology of the grain boundary ferrite appears in a bending plate and that of t he intragranular ferrite nucleating in inclusions appears in a long lat h w hich belongs t o acicular ferrite rather t han the equiaxed shape in tw odimension.
