ABSTRACT: The algorithm ofmean- shift doesn t utilize the information of position and movement direction in
tracking target. And it easily loses the target because targetmoves or rotates quickly. M ean- shift algorithm tracks
target based on density graded estmi ation. istogram can be used to account the distributed state grayscale level or
colored level of mi age, and it is stable by utilizing coloredmatch.. The histogram for tracking targetwillbehardly in
fluenced by deformation. But it doesn t contain any special position information. W eighted histogram utilizes spatial
information efficiently. This paper proposes a real- tmi e face tracking algorithm which combines theweighted histo
gram withmean- shit. Expermi ental results show that the algorithm is effective, robust and stable, and it can basi
cally meet the requirement of real- tmi e target tracking.
