To recognize the additional energy, vitamin and mineral requirements for women during lactation. To understand potential obstacles and contraindications to breastfeeding. Healthy People 2010 Goals Increase to at least 75% the proportion of mothers breastfeeding upon discharge and 50% still breastfeeding when the infant is 6 months of age.
