Ab stract: O bjective T o exp lore soc ial anx iety and its related factors in m ed ical un iversity students.
M e thods 309 m ed ical studen ts w ere assessed w ith in teraction anx iousness scale ( IAS ), social avo idance and
distress scale ( SADS ), eysenck personality questionnaire ( EPQ ) and selfesteem scale ( SES ). Resu lts
1521% of subjects show ed m oderate levels of soc ial anx iety. The IAS and SADS scores in the fem ale w ere
higher than them ale(P 0. 05) . M ajor and age also influenced sign if icantly the anx iety levels (P 0. 01, P
0. 05). Soc ial anx iety levelw as significan tly associated w ith selfesteem, EPQE and EPQN ( P 0. 01) .
