Qian Zhongshus Research into Han Yu:
A Perspective of Reception Aesthetics

Abstract: As a distinguished forerunner of reception aesthetics, Prof. Qian hongshu unfolds his research
into the reception history of Han Yu in the two aspects: one is Han Yus textual relationship with the
precursorspoems in the term of diction, intention, momentum, rhetoric etc, the other the exegetic
readersreading-response to and imitation of Han Yus poems. His research reveals his erudition, unique
sight, and more importantly, his unequaled sensibilities and talents in critical scrutiny.
