College of Water Sciences, Beij ing 100875, China) Abstract: Risk Evaluation of Water Resources is the m ost important issue for the rational utilization and sustainable development of w ater re sources. In this paper, the definition of the risk of w ater resources are classified and summed up, and a more comprehensive and mathematical definition is given. Furtherm ore, risk evaluation m ethods are comprehensive discu ssed, such as risk index method, probabilistic methods and fuzzy m ethods, w hich are pointed out the strengths and w eaknesses of variou s m ethods through the aspects of mathem atics and statistics.
