The adsorptions 2+ 2+ 2+ 2 + of Cu , Pb , Cd and Zn on the starchbased carbon w ere investi ated. The effects of adsorbent dosa e, pH value, adsorption temperature and in itial metal concentration on the adsorption capacity w ere investi ated in detail. The removal percenta es of heavy m etal ions increased w ith the adsorbent 2+ 2+ 2 + dosa e increase. The optmi um pH values w ere found to be 70 for Cu , 60 for Pb , 80 for Cd and 2 + 70 for Zn , respectively. A h i her temperature w as in favor of adsorption.
