Jennings 6 TRIUMF, 4004 Wesbrook Mall 9 Vancouver, B.C, V6T 2A3, Canada 9 1 g u Abstract A 3 1 The modified quark-meson coupling model, which features a density depen- dent bag constant and bag radius in nuclear matter, is checked against the 1 v EMC effect within the framework of dynamical rescaling. Our emphasis is on 3 the change in the average bag radius in nuclei, as evaluated in a local den- 2 0 sity approximation, and its implication for the rescaling parameter. We find 8 that when the bag constant in nuclear matter is significantly reduced from its 0 6 free-space value, the resulting rescaling parameter is in good agreement with 9 that required to explain the observed depletion of the structure functions in / h the medium Bjorken x region.
