Then the threedimensional laser scanning system was used to scan the standing trees and to measure the standing tree volume . Compared with the measured data of the felled trees , it was indicated that the data obtained from scanning can completely meet the precision requirement of forestry measurement . The standing tree volume data obtained by scanning can completely take the place of standing tree volume data obtained by the traditional method. Therefore , the standing tree volume table established by the model did not need a large number of felling trees any more , as a result of which , a lot of human , material resources , and financial re sources.
