Effectofroadwayturningsongasexplosionpropagationcharacteristics incoalmines ZhuChuanjiea.b.* LinBaiquana.b,YeQingcZhaiChenga,b aStateKeyLaboratoryofCoalResourcesandSafeMiningXuzhou221008.China bFacultyofSafetyEngineering,ChinaUniversityofMiningTechnology,Xuzhou221116.China cFacultyofEnergyandSafetyEngineering.HunanUniversityofScienceandTechnology.Xiangtan411201,China Inordertorevealtheeffectofturningsonexplosionpropagation,experimentswereperformedinthree differentpipes(singlebend,U-shapedpipeandZ-shapedpipe).Flameandpressuretransducerswere 2010-10-13 2010-12-07 usedtotrackthevelocityattheexplosionfront.Whenthepipeswerefilledwithmethane,theexplosion strengthwassignificantlyenhancedduetotheturbulenceinducedbyincreasingthenumberofturnings, whiletheflamespeed(Sf)andpeakoverpressure(△Pmax)increaseddramatically.Inaddition,thestrength oftheexplosionincreasedinviolenceasafunctionofthenumberofturnings.However,whenthebend waswithoutmethane,theturningsweakenedthestrengthoftheexplosioncomparedwiththeordinary Gasexplosion; Turning; pipe,shownbythedecreaseinthevaluesof△PmaxandSf.Inaddition,thepropagationcharacteristicsina Flamespeed; U-shapedpipeweresimilartothoseinaZ-shapedpipeandthevaluesof△PmaxandSfwerealsoclose. Peakoverpressure; Theresultsshowthattheexplosionpropagationcharacteristicslargelydependongasdistributionin Explosionpropagation thepipesandthenumberofturnings.Thedifferentdirectionsoftheturningshadnoeffect. 10.1016/j.mstc.2011.05.006
