Abstract Large non inear refraction indices, u trafast response of non inearities, moderate to ow two-photon
absorption and unique photoinducing properties make cha cogenide g asses at tractive candidates for a -optica signa
processing . We review the basic properties of these materia s, out ine the progress of cha cogenide g ass waveguide,
introduce its non inear app ication and discuss its prospect.
