摘要 摘 要 终身教职制度是美国高校教师聘任制度的重要组成部分，这种制度在选聘优秀人才 维护学术自由 提供职业安全 保障美国高等教育质量等方面起着重要的作用。在美国高 校中，终身教职吸引青年教师不断努力奋斗，获得终身教职不仅意味着获得了物质保障, 也是对教师的教学 研究成果和服务能力的肯定，体现了一个学者的价值。而要获得终身 教职，教师必须通过严苛的聘前考核。 本文在概述美国终身教职的含义 目的和意义的基础上，着重介绍了美国高校终身教 职聘前考核机制，包括考核的机构 程序 内容 标准 方式等，力图展现出美国高校终 身教职聘前考核的详细步骤和每个环节。最后，总结了美国高校终身教职聘前考核的特点： 由学术人员进行考核 内部和外部考核相结合 考核标准严格 考核周期合理和教师主动 参与，并以期给中国的高校教师考核提供有益的借鉴。 关键词：美国高校；终身教职；聘前考核 Abstract Abstract The tenure system is an important part of the American Faculty appointment system, this systemplaysanimportantroleinhiringtalentedpeople,maintainingacademicfreedom,offering occupational safety and protecting the quality of higher education in the United States. In the universities oftheUnited States,thetenure attractsyoungteacherstoworkhard.Beingtenured not onlymeans gettingmaterial securityofawhole life,but alsoreflects thevalue of a scholar fortheteachersteaching,research and servicecapabilities.Then,togettenure,theteachermust beexaminedstrictly. This paper introduces the tenure’s implication, purpose and meaning, and highlights the evaluation mechanism for recruiting tenured faculty in the universities of the United States, includingtheinstitutions,procedures, content,standardsoftenure evaluation,tryingto showthe tenure evaluations every steps and links. Finally, we summarize the characteristics of the’ evaluation: evaluating by the scholar, a combination of internal and external evaluation, strict evaluation standards, reasonable appraisal cycle and active participation of teachers .And this providesusefullessonsforChinauniversity.
