We also have a slightly different format to the study guide. Phrasal Verbs and Idioms “To pass by the movement of time eg: A month passed by, but she still didnt call. “To pass through” 1) to experience a situation, usually difficult, or perhaps an unpleasant occasion eg: She passed through some difficult times during the war. 2) to go to a place only for a short time eg: He passed through Paris, but spent most of his time in Rome. “To pass up” to decide not to take advantage of an opportunity eg: How could you pass up a great job like that? You would have been set for the rest of your life? IDIOM: its about time This is used when the speaker feels something should have happened sooner eg: Oh, here comes Rob now, its about time, hes an hour late. BONUS IDIOM: from time to time This basically means sometimes or occasionally or once in a while eg: So, Bob, do you get homesick from time to time? Grammar Blues We can use the future continuous to talk about something that is predicted - it will happen, or, to start before a particular point in future time, and that may continue after the point that you referring to. And often, its the result of a previous decision or arrangement that you may have made eg: She will be entering her university next September. When we head up to the mountain, well be carrying twenty kilo packs. It can also be used interchangeably with the present continuous when we talk about arranged events or activities for the future eg: Well actually be leaving for Osaka at nine oclock in the morning next week. OR We are actually leaving for Osaka at nine oclock in the morning next week. Well be playing tennis on Saturday. OR We are playing tennis on Saturday.
