After over two decades, again the city needs to get away from the downtown areas where are crowded with population, industries, and traffic and find new spaces for the growth of the metropolitan circle. Commuter rail is the backbone of the traffic network in a metropolitan circle and the basis for the unified development of the circle. The forerunning project for the construction of the greater Shanghai metropolitan circle is the construction of the Expo park and the traffic hub in the park that focuses on commuter rail station.
