THE STATUS OF CONTEMPORARY OVERSEAS VIETNAMESE AND THE ROLE OF THEM IN VIETNAM’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ABSTRACT In recent ten years, Vietnam has already become one of the countries which have the fastest economic growth in the world. One of the reasons for the Vietnamese fast growing economy is due to the massive foreign investment. These years overseas Vietnamese have played an important role in the foreign investment in Vietnam. Vietnam’s remittance from those overseas Vietnamese increases year by year. Every year, there is a large number of overseas Vietnamese returning back to the motherland to visit relatives, travel or do investment. They brought back the advanced production technology as well as the managing experience. These technology and experience have a great influence to the Vietnam social economys development. The article will analyze the reasons why Vietnamese migrates to overseas, introduce the present distribution of overseas Vietnamese, summaries Vietnamese government’s present overseas affair policy; and do some research on the function of the overseas Vietnamese which have contributed to the Vietnamese economic development. The article will simultaneously point out some questions about why the overseas Vietnamese returned back to participate in the existing construction.
