SociologyStudy，February2015，Vo1．5，No．2，157-162 doi：10．17265／2159—5526／2o15．02．007 … ～ … 。W‘inningIsEverything’’astheBasisof Academ icMisconductAmongIndonesian Students Yeremiaslena~，KasdinSihotanga Abstract Unethicalbehavioramonguniversitystudentssuch ascheatingandplagiarism hasweakenedthecharacterofhonesty in education．Thisfacthaschallengedthosewhoperceivededucationasaholisticprocessofinternalizingvaluesandnormsthat leadto theformation ofstudents’moralprinciplesandmoralbehaviour．Educatorshaveplayedtheroleofensuringthe students tointernalizeandrealizedmoralvaluesandnorms．Astudyof360studentsofthesecondsemesterwhoenrolledat thecourseof e“thicalandpersonaldevelopment”atAtmalayaCatholicUniversityinIndonesiashowedthatunethical behaviorsuchascheatingandplagiarism wererarelydone．However，adeeplookatthereasonthestudentsdidacademic dishonesyt haspromptedthepermissivenessofstudent’smorallife．Thisstudyprovesthatacademicintegriyt among universitystudentsisworrisome，anditisworsenedbythefactthattheywereenrolledinthecourseof“ethicalandpersonal development”．Seriouslytakingintoconsiderationthestrongdesireofstudentstochangethecultureofacademicmisconduct， theauthorsarguethatan educationalmodelwhich isnotoriented excessively tocognitiveperformanceisneeded．The authorsarguethatthispositionhastobepracticedinlinew iththeinvolvementof“clean”studentswhoareinvolvedasrole modelsininfluencingtheformationofstudentawarenessandethicalbehavior． Keywords Cheating，plagiarizing，performance·oriented，goal-oriented，academicmisconduct BeingthecenterforcharactereducationinAtmaJaya AsthePDU stillhasto formulateand design a Catholic University in Indonesia． Persona1 suitableapproach ofrthecultivation ofvalues，some DevelopmentUnit(PDU)istakingtheresponsibility maior immoralbehaviours continue to threaten of managing and developing the courses for the student’sac
