Abstract
Manycitiesintheworldhavebeendoingtheresearchoneco-citysincethe
planningofMABwasbroughtforwardinU.N.MostChinesecitieshavealsoposed
theirplanningonestablishingeco-cities,thepurposesofwhicharetoimproveurban
patternandeco-environment,tomaketheecologicalenvironmentbetterandto
harmonizetherelationshipsofeconomics,natureandsociety.
Thepaperoutlinedthecourseofurbaneco-planningevolutionanditsprospectin
thefuture.Since19`hcentury,thetheoryandmethodofurbaneco-planninghadgrown
upgraduallywiththeplanningpracticesfromE.HowardsGardenCitiesto
MacHargseco-planningoflandutilization,andtotheurbanecologicaldecision
planningbasedontheecosystem theory. Theaccelerationofglobalscale
urbanizationhadresultedingreatproblemsofourecologicalenvironment,andthe
urbanecologicalplanninghadbecomemoreandmoreimportanttosustainable
developmentinurbanareas.Theurbaneco-planningmustadvancetowardseco-city.
Thepaperemphasizestointroducethetheoriesonurbaneco-planning,which
includetheobjective,thecontents,thebasicprinciplesandthemainmethodsof
eco-planning.TheauthortakeFoshancityforexampletointroduceandanalyzethe
maincontentsofurbaneco-planningindetail,whichincludetheanalysisofregional
naturalenvironmentandthepresentsituationofsocialeconomy,theanalysisofmain
pollutedsource,theanalysisofadvantageanddisadvantageonsustainable
developments,thestudyofindicatorsystemofeco-city,theresearchonrecycle
economyandeco-planning,andtheresearchonmanagementsystemsofeco-city.
DuringthestudyingprocessonFoshancity,thepapermakescleartheorientation
anddevelopmentaldirectionofthewholeFoshancity;revealstheessentialcontents
whichtheurbaneco-planningshouldincludeswithmanyanalyticalmethodssuchas
systematicanalyticsand3Stechnology.Thepapersetsagoodexamplefor
establishingeco-cityinchinaevenintheworld.
