In Chinas energy production and consumption, it accounts for about 60%~70%. In the past few decades, Chinas coal mining industry has been taking an extensive course of development, resulting in a series of problems, such as the waste of resources, environmental damage, poor health and safety conditions etc. The development of a renewable economy concept was introduced into China in the 1990s. This sustainable development model which can promote the resources, environment and socially coordinated development soon got much attention and recognition, and also became the important strategic choice of various industries. The Pingdingshan Coal Group is located in the Central Plains. With sixty years of coal resources development history, it is now a large energy and chemical industry enterprise group in China. By applying the renewable economic theory as a guide, this paper analyses the Pingdingshan Coal Group as a primary case study. On the basis of analysing the domestic and foreign development status of the renewable economy, model and trend, this paper in addition studies the backgroud, motivation, internal and external condition of the development of the renewable economy in Pingdingshan Coal Group.
