Output from the study The intendend outputs from the study include: Show what information (in what form) is needed to inform decision-makers (at which level and for what decisions) on the various types of options Show how the various elements of the appraisal system could best generate this information and how this information could fit well together in practice Identify key information gaps and specific research needs and priorities, especially regarding the development and application of economic apprraisal and analysis tools and techniques. This would then form the basis and terms of reference for special follow up work (e.g. to improve specific tailored economic appraisal techniques). According to the Terms of reference for this virtual scoping the following issues are of main interest: Characterisation and differentation of (parts of) water bodies in order to identify bodies of water for which objectives must be set and measures identified and appraised. Characterisation of various possible measures to achieve good quality status, and the level at which these measures have to be implemented Characterisation of diverse parties affected positively or negatively by the impacts of these possible measures Best use of information given by existing appraisal systems on the environmental, economic or social impacts of the possible measures, and key gaps in expertise and information to be adressed to undertake cost-effectiveness- and cost-benefit analysis.
