The purpose of this planning application is to gain approval for the installation of new floodlighting, to the pitch to comply with current England Hockey Class II requirements. The Hockey Pitch occupies land within Kings Edward’s School Bath – Post Code BA2 6HU. Drawing no. SJB14-001-01 Location Plan indicates the site boundary (in Blue). King Edward’s School, founded in 1552, is an Independent Co-educational Day School; there are currently 700 pupils in the Senior School (including 210 pupils in the Sixth Form), 190 in the Junior School and 100 in the Pre-Prep. The School is situated on a privileged 14 acre site on the south eastern edge of Bath, just below the University, with fine views of the City Centre and surrounding hills. The School offers a very broad education and excellent facilities and has excelled in many areas. Sport is a central part of the curriculum and the School benefits from excellent indoor and outdoor facilities which have enabled outstanding achievements in rugby, hockey and netball, as well as offering excellent opportunities for local sports clubs.
