Comparison of results among hemiarthroplasty,dynamic hip screw and proximal anatomical plate for intertrochanteric fracture of femur in the elderly Speciality: Orthopedics of TCM Author: Liunaixi Tutor: Prof. Zhang Jianxin Abstracts Objective:To compare the short-term clinical effects of hemiarthroplasty,dynamic Hip Screw(DHS)and proximal anatomical plate in treatment of intertrochanteric fracture in the elderly. Methods:60 cases of elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture,admitted from June 2008 and June 2010,were treated randomly with one of the 3 metheds. 20 cases with hemiarthroplasty,20 cases were stabilized with DHS, and 20 cases proximal anatomical plate.After operation,regular anti-inflam matory therapy was conducted for 5 days,the healing process of the fhe fracture and the function of the hip was followed up regular by radiography and Harris hip score respectively. Result:. 1. Complication: DHS group occurred in 2 cases, proximal anatomical plate 2 patients, hemiarthroplasty 1 patients. No bed-related complications in hemiarthroplasty. 2. Harris hip score:the hip function result of hemiarthroplasty groups were superior to those in another 2 groups one month after operation(p 0.05).The hip functional result was no statically significant 6 months after operation(p0.05). Conclusion:Hemiarthroplasty is an effective method for the treating intertrochanteric fracture,and better than that by DHS and proximal anatomical plate in early stage.There is no obvious different in long-term among the three methods.
