After the arrangement, the history of traditional Chinese medicine recognized depression may trace to The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor time. About the cause of disease, physicians of the past made various elaborations from the aspects of the five movements, sis excesses, and the seven emotions. The descriptions of clinical symptom were also very rich. Analysis of traditional Chinese medicine, we found that almost of sentiment disease can find similarities with different depression of psychology, and different types of depressive symptoms combination can correspond to TCM syndrome type. Based on the above analysis, the conclusion that depression may combine understands and treatment from both psychology and Chinese medicine was proposed. The traditional Chinese medicine and the psychology have communications in understanding depressions origin and symptoms, and the traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment theory has the relative superiority in the treatment of depression.
