The Study of Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction in Elderly Patients Abstract Speciality:Orthopedics of Chinese Medicine Author:Wang jinsong Tutor:Professor.Wang Mingxi Abstract Objective: To investigate factors of the elderly patients being affected by the cognitive dysfunction (POCD) after orthopaedic surgery. To analyze factors that leads to POCD and work out methods to prevent and measure with it. Methods: Choose 50 elderly patients that are over the age of 60 which have done orthopaedic surgery in Shandong traditional Chinese medicine hospital, orthopedics ward, test the cognitive function of the patient before and after the surgery using neuropsychological testing scale, analyze the contributive factors of POCD; doing data analysis with SPSS11.5 statistic software, and take logistic stepwise regression analysis to analyze the contributive factors. Results: Age, preoperative hypertension, and preoperative depression have obvious impact on POCD, which has statistic sense (P0.05). Conclusion: The incidence of POCD attacking the elderly orthopaedic patients is high and the harm is serious, which the orthopaedic colleagues should pay high attention to and do abundant preparation before the surgery. It is also essential to correct Physiological disorders, do psychological counseling and strengthen nursing care after the surgery.
