Research on the Relationship among Witch, Alchemist, Taoism and TCM: The Study Mainly on the Times before Huang Di Nei Jing Specialty: Literature in TCM Author: Du Feng-juan Tutor: Professor Zang Shou-hu Abstract Because of the lack of information and the confusion of myths and legends, the description of the medical history of the times before Huang Di Nei Jing is far from clear. In view of this, this article collected much information about history, TCM and Taoism, analyzed the relationship of the witch, alchemist, Taoism and TCM, as well as the inner transmutation relations from the longitudinal and horizontal perspective. As a conclusion, the studies suggest that there was the phenomenon of witchcraft mixed with medicine in primitive society and doctors’ duties shouldered by the witch at that time. When they were listed in different functional systems in Zhou Li, witch and doctors began to differentiate. During the Warring States and the Qin and Han dynasties, alchemists and alchemy boarded the stage of history and the actions of Qiuxian and seeking elixir became very popular. As one of the Fangji, medicine was manipulated in the hands of the alchemist. Huang Di Nei Jing is a Huang-lao Taoism writings. Many doctors in the history were Daoyi. There were complex relationships among Taoism, alchemist and witch. For example, both Taoism and alchemist can be traced back to the witch. To the Eastern Han Dynasty, the three together participated in the formation of Taoism.
