Clinical Research on the Treatment of Protrusion of Lumber Disc (PLD) by “ Six -step Chiropractic Manipulation” Speciality:Acupuncture and Tuina Author:Fan Shenghua Tutor:Wang Daoquan Abstract Objective: To study curative effect and the functional mechanism of treating Protrusion of Lumber Disc (PLD) by “Six-step Chiropractic Manipulation”. Methods: 60 patients diagnosed as protrusion of lumber disc were divided into treatment groups and control groups at random. The treatment group of 30 patients treated by “Six-step Chiropractic Manipulation” while the control group of 30 patients treated by general Tuina manipulation. Observe the changes of their symptoms 、physical signs 、the range of physiological lumbar curve, and variable flow etc. Results: The “Six-step Chiropractic Manipulation” for treatment of Protrusion of Lumber Disc (PLD) has a remarkable curative effect compared with the group of general Tuina manipulation. The improvement of the patients symptoms, physical signs, the range of physiological lumbar curve and variable flow is superior to that of using general Tuina manipulation.(P 0.05). Conclusion: Clinical study shows that the Six-step Chiropractic Manipulation has a remarkable curative effect on treating Protrusion of Lumber Disc (PLD). Combined with waist vertebrae, muscles and tendons anatomical and physiological characteristics, as well as the modern research and analysis of Protrusion of Lumber Disc (PLD), the functional mechanism may include lumbar adjustment of compliance, easing cramps, changing the relative location between the prominent nucleus and the nerve root, reducing or lifting repression, rectifying synovial joint dislocation and
