The term comes from Greek, eu meaning “well” or “sounding good ”. pheme means speech. Euphemism literally means good or pleasant speech. As an indispensable and natural part of language, euphemism has been arousing wide interest .Thus on the basis of others researches, this thesis attempts to do a comprehensive analysis of English euphemism and Chinese euphemism by comparatively analyzing the relationship of euphemism with culture and taboos, and the similarities and differences of English and Chinese euphemism, aiming at deepening the understanding of the euphemism and to better use it in foreign language learning ,cross-cultural communication as well as in our everyday life .
