Preparing I. Interpreting Skills (口译技能) Read the following presentation about public speaking and try to understand the dos and don’ts about public speaking. Encoding Training (I): Public Speaking（公开演讲） Encoding in Interpreting After hearing the source text and memorizing the speech segments, interpreters must produce their interpretations. Interpreters’ production of the interpretation is the realization of other efforts. The Encoding (编码) Effort determines whether target language listeners can get the message and whether the communication effects can be achieved. Interpreters’ delivery straightly determines the communication between the speaker and the target listeners. In reconstruction, the interpreter should transmit the message with total accuracy and produce the same effect on the receivers as the original speech does on the speaker’s audience. Furthermore, the interpreter’s use of language and oratory quality（讲演质量）should be at least on the same level as that of the original speech. Interpreters’ interpretation performance is mainly assessed on the basis of their delivery, such as comprehensibility（理解）, language, coherence（一致） and loyalty（忠实）. The assessors are usually interested in such questions as “Is the interpretation incomprehensible?”, “Are there any excessive repairs in th
