Abstract A transition zone，during its development activities at present，is facing challenges like high crude oil viscosity,low water drive efficiency,unbalancing production speed and oil rate per unit thickness，and unreasonable producer to injector ratio，ere．To analyze and study the crude oil viscosity variation rules and remaining oil distribution in the transition zone，as well as to find countermeasures and development adjustment methods on the basis of current status of development is therefore of profound and lasting importance to improving development effect of the transition zone in the future． From the view of reservoir enegineeing，and reffering to the theories of permeation fluid mechanics and integrating mathematical statistics晰tll simulation，the article focuses on variation of reservoir and fluild properties of the transition zone，as well as the rules of fluid flow．In the study,variation rules of crude oil viscosity in the transition zone and its infuece on development effect have been analyzed，influences of fluid flow,reservoir geology and flow conditions on changes of development indices have been revealed，and relation between crude oil viscosity and drive pressure differential has been analyzed，thereby,a method has been pointed out,which is to infill the well-spacing and improve injection and production relation．In the meanwhile，core data, sidetrack，deviated and offset well log interpretation data,嬲well as simulation have been applied in the comprehensive analysis on remaining oil distribution in the transition zone，which based on the causes，have been classified into 5 types，including that cuased by improper injection and production relation,that left within thick reservoirs，that in poor reservoirs，bypass oil and that out of well contr01．Based on remaining oil analysis，it is recommended to tap the potential of remaining oil by adjusting injection and production relation on the basis of current well spacing and development status，and for remaining oil ac
