On Fostering and Maintaining Elementary-school Students’ Interest in Learning English
Abstract: As we all know, elementary education plays a very important part in one’s educational career. Nowadays, a growing number of English teachers find a lot of problems, which still exist in English teaching, especially in fostering and marinating the student’s interest under the new curriculum syllabus. It is very important for teacher to foster and maintain students’ great interest in learning English. Therefore, as an English teacher, we should seize the good opportunities, exaggerate the atmosphere of the class, and initiate student’s interest and thirst for knowledge. Still, we should study the teaching materials thoroughly, prepare for the lesson seriously, and develop student’s initiative and establish new relationship between students and teachers.
In this thesis, the author explores the ways to foster the student’s interest and the measures to maintain the student’s interest in learning English, such as suiting the instruction to the student’s level and developing extracurricular activities.
