Layoffs Coming at Coca-Cola China   Layoffs are really coming for Coca-Cola China’s employees this time. A few weeks after the announcement of a layoff plan at the end of last year, Coca-Cola unveiled the first batch of its global layoffs-- 1,600 to 1,800 employees, including those in China.   Coca-Cola’s decision to streamline its product portfolio aiming to curtail costs and launch new products as its profit growth engines came after the shrinking carbonated soft drink market dragged its profits and revenues down.   Analysts say that in this round of Coca-Cola’s reform, its Chinese branch also faces the prospect of layoffs and production cuts. 2015 will be a key year for Coca-Cola to do subtraction.    Coca-Cola’s “New-Year Subtraction” in China   Coca-Cola, the world’s largest soft drink provider and most recognized   beverage brand, will axe its jobs globally, involving a massive number of Coca-Cola’s workforce. According to Coca-Cola’s latest announcement, as the first batch of the layoffs, at least 1,600 to 1,800 employees will be laid off.   In a statement, the company said the first batch of layoffs will be finalized in the next few months and more layoffs will come in the future. According to data, Coca-Cola has about 130,000 employees across the world.   When the company first announced the layoffs plan at the end of last year, some analysts said China would be an exception as an emerging market in which Coca-Cola’s sale revenues were higher than those in America and Europe. However, given Coca-Cola’s current situation, its Chinese branch is destined to be hit by the wave of layoffs.   “We now confirm that the parent company is adjusting its operation mode, in a bid to streamline its business structure and boost the growth of its global business,” Coca-Cola China said in an interview, “The adjustment will affect some posts in the global operations, including those in China.”   According to data from the official website of Coca-Cola China, th
